Congratulations to all our athletes who participated in the Crossfit Open! It was five weeks of fun, fitness, and functional warm-ups from your Active PT girls. Check out our posts on Instagram if you missed them! We also sent out the troops to Crossfit Grandview, NewCov Crossfit, Fit Club, and Eleventh Element to treat the athlete’s before or after their competition times. It was great to see everyone compete!
Missy’s New Specialization
Dr. Missy has just completed a continuing education course on the Pelvic Floor and Diaphragm focusing on the relationship between the two and how it relates to function! This course has advanced her knowledge of female related conditions including pregnancy related pain, postpartum pain, and incontinence and her ability to treat the pregnant and postpartum athlete! While this course was geared towards females, these concepts carry over to the male athlete as well. As it turns out men have pelvic floors and diaphragms too (wink wink) and have a difficult time accessing this muscle group! Stay tuned for a more detailed blog post on these concepts and learn a few exercises that could improve your posture and decrease chronic pain!
Modo Yoga wrap up!
We hope you all took advantage of a free sweaty yoga session or two at Modo Yogo in March. We enjoyed being their community partner of the month and meeting some new friends and learning some new poses to keep us strong and flexible in body and mind!
